I‘m part of a terrific organization of writers based in the UK, Dark Angels. We’re from Scotland, Ireland, England, and the US. We train and tutor writers at workshops around Europe and the US. And on Zoom, of course. Dark Angels has changed many lives. I often tutor with my friend, the big-hearted, super-talented writer and musician, Jamie Jauncey.
For writers seeking a shot of inspiration, a bit of community and encouragement, which is every writer alive, we are here.
Our sessions involve lots of short, fast writing exercises and discussions with plenty of time for personal writing. You’ll draw on your life experience, knowledge of the business world, and inspiration from life, music, other books and people.
Who comes to Dark Angels workshops? It’s a mix of freelancers, and corporate people.
Recent US participants have come from Entertainment Arts, EY and Takeda among others. In the UK we’ve had people from Barclays, The BBC, British Airways, National Library of Wales, Penguin Books, Royal Society of Arts, Scottish Arts Council, Sotheby’s Europe, Swiss Reinsurance.
Our next American workshop: June 16-21, 2023
The Aldermarsh Retreat Center on Whidbey Island.
This is a chance to hone your writing and enrich your understanding
of the power of language and storytelling.
Only seven spots left.
The role of imaginative language and the importance of stories and narrative writing to business writing are central to all Dark Angels courses. The work that happens on one workshop often builds directly on work that has happened in other sessions.

It’s our belief that the more personally engaging you make your writing, the more effective it will be. We want you to come away saying that was fantastic fun but also that really worked. To book a spot, email Susanne Wakefield [email protected]
